Some Truth about Lies

May 12th, 2010

lying

Why people lie? In one article in psychology of lying, explains that people may lie due to the following reasons;

Fear of the consequences when they tell the truth

 To boost their self-image inappropriately

 To deliberately harm others.

Accordingly, to understand lying someone  needs to understand these reasons for lying.

In other explanation, it is even disputed that a lie is not a lie if someone DOES NOT deliberately harm or take advantage of others by altering the truth, if a lie was made for a good  intention and will benefit the person. Others would have called this as white lies.

How to tell if a person is lying?These are some signs as according to behavioural-psychology.suite.101;

Some people give away signs of lying without even realizing it. These are not as accurate as a lie detector, but here are some possible indications and what to look for a person who is “possibly” lying:

•They add way too many details to their story. Sometimes so many that it starts to sound ridiculous because most people don’t keep track of a lot of silly details. “Then I stopped and noticed a piece of gum on the sidewalk.” or some other silly irrelevant detail.

•Frequent blinking. Maybe they’re trying to unconsciously hide their lie by doing this, but instead give it away. (Keep in mind there are other reasons for excessive blinking such as sensitive eyes or contact lenses)

•Their eyebrows become raised. This is what I called fixated eyes (no blink)… This is not proof of lying on its own, but combined with other things it does tend to signify defensiveness. If they know about the blinking they tend to do this to over compensate. This one in particular seems hard for people to stop doing.

•Overreacting by immediately acting angry and defensive, perhaps to try to force a change of subject or to make the person submit to their story.

•They’re unable to look you in the eye or hold a gaze for any length of time. Sociopaths can probably look you in the eye and lie no problem, so you can’t always depend on this one.

•They cover their mouth as if to cover the lie. (Others would show mannerisms, like picking fingers, create psychosomatic coughs and even runny nose). A lot of face touching in general is not a good sign.

•Instead of answering a question with a straight answer, they will echo back what you just asked them. Example: “Did you take that cookie?” “Are you asking me if I took that cookie?”

•The accused becomes the accuser by pointing the finger and projecting the misdeed elsewhere. Some would start asking questions vindicating you. Example:  “Why are you doing this? or You never stopped talking, I’m too tired for this”.

In the end, I would say that lying is never really a cool habit as one lie will save you once, but it will lead you to another. It is addicting in nature as it will tempt you to  lie until you do it again and again.  The moment you realise it, you are drowned and you are living your life in a lie and it will need an even great deal of work to live to the truth. So why make your life miserable by lying? Besides, truth will always set us free.

How about you? Do you think there are good lies?

Love or Lust? How to know

February 9th, 2010

love-web3At one time someone would probably say to you ” I love you with all my heart…”, and then suddenly you start to see stars and little hearts floating just at the side of your head, giving you this bizarre feeling that as if you are the most beautiful creature in the middle of the universe… Then you start to combine your names together…Until…wait! you woke up and realised that it is “NOT” really what the person meant? Then you ask yourself…a big  “WHY???????” Wherein, you could have asked, “what could it possibly be?”And of course, no person in his/her right sane would tell you that what they feel is merely “lust” for you…whether they know it or not. So how can you tell?

One very similar feeling to love is lust. Lust is a very powerful, very intense feeling of physical attraction toward another person. Lust is mainly sexual in nature – the attraction is superficial based on instant chemistry rather than genuine caring. Usually we lust after people we do not know well, people we still feel comfortable fantasizing about. Many adults still confuse intense attraction such as lust to true love.

As it is, lust is not love. Love is based on more than just physical attraction. Attraction is an essential factor but love goes deeper than that. Love is a shared feeling between two people who have a vested interest in one another’s happiness. Love is based on caring, friendship, commitment, and trust.

Love is a feeling that as if you always have a best friend beside you that you can count on and understand you. It is love when you feel that you can be just as yourself in good times and bad times. It is love when you think you can accept each others’ flaws no matter how odd others may think these are. It is love when you can actually forgive each other’s mistakes… These are just but some obvious signs of loving someone. Anything less is lust, deep friendship and attraction.

For some people it may not be that easy to determine love from lust. It may not always be absolute in finding out what makes someone say that what he/she feels is true love, but we can use some signs to know that what you really feel is heading towards love. If you agree with 7 out of 10 statements, chances are that you might be in love.

1. You know, because you have been told by your significant other; your deep feelings are returned in kind.

2. The object of your affection makes you feel special and good about yourself.

3. If/when you feel jealous, it is always fleeting; you are not insecure about your partner most of the time.

4. It feels serene, peaceful, and relaxing when you and your partner are together.

5. When you fight with your partner you usually make up. You both respect and forgive each other’s flaws and mistakes and think that being with each other is more important than pride.

6. You agree that nothing is more important than you both being able to express your true feelings (even if they sometimes cause conflict).

7.Your partner should not ask you to choose between him/her and your loyalties to family and friends; – if you do choose him/her over them you always have a good reason and it is always YOUR decision and your decision alone.

8. Your partner should know and understand that your work is important to you.

9. You are more yourself when with your partner than you are with anybody else.

10. If sex is part of your relationship, it is by mutual desire and agreement without the slightest hint of commitment testing or persuasion.

Happy Valentine’s to all!

Chat RoManCe

January 15th, 2010

chat

In one site where I write, someone asked me about my opinion if  true ‘relationship’ works and develops in chats or other social networks…and it stirred different reactions from the readers. As for me, I have laid  few points…  Virtual world has become an essential part of both men and women’s social life now a days.  This is especially true to those who do not have the time to interact with people in person or those who are just too far away.  On several occasions, it has also become a means of expression for those who are finding it difficult to introduce themselves in person but not necessarily because they don’t have social skills…The reality is, whether we like it or not, emails, websites, and chat rooms do really work sometimes.  Otherwise, we will not have witnessed Yahoo Messenger, MSN, Facebook, Friendster, MySpace, Twitter’s and not to mention, the thousands of  chatrooms and blogs’ mounting success  and popularity.  It is mostly because online socialising sort out distance dimension which lessens the limitations in exchange of thoughts and self expressions. It has an undisputed reach which gives everyone a chance to experience a bit of each other’s culture through universal language. It gives someone freedom to communicate in our own pace; it is convenient, effective, and inexpensive way of meeting friends, talking to people and perhaps finding a date for some people…buzz

I know a friend who has tried this means of finding a date and she is having this adventure of getting into the limelight of virtual socialising. She admits that she haven’t got the means of spending time and effort to socialise to find a date because she has a reserved personality and most of all she has not got the patience and the time to put up with dates.  She also expresses herself  more when she has a time to write it no matter how vague it is.  Chat rooms, websites, blogging, and some other online means have become her diversion. It gives her the convenience of knowing what is happening across  miles  with her friends and edge to meet new people as well.  She would compare social networks or chatrooms into actual places where one could meet potential friends so to speak…In a matter of time, she have met interesting people online having different issues and characters, hear their heart outs and that challenges her most.  She chats with people and friends who are there to listen, give resources for research, share information, and exchange views and opinions. She said she particularly likes virtual socialising as it asks no demand in time especially when one is so busy.  But could have been a drawback of being hooked online?I would say that one must also watch out for some cyber world’s dirty tricks.  Some people would chat for benefit, money, or other gains or do it extremely below the lines, Nevertheless only 25% of a person’s character is what we can judge and perceive in chatting or talking online

Meeting virtual friends in person, need to have cautious planning and decision. Presence and spending time together is still the best means to know a person very well or at least to get a grasp of person’s character especially on their unguarded moments.  Online or virtual socialising is just a short cut to find people who are atleast willing to meet  in person after realising some compatible traits. The real thing is, nothing could be better when than to observe the person’s behaviour and character by being with him or her and do activities together…buzz

How about you ?How do you find chatting, blogging, and social networking? does it work for you?buzz

A Year Gone By

December 31st, 2009

happy-new-year-fireworksWe face the horizon of the coming year leaving the past years behind and looking forward for a new coming year of adventures…not just the ordinary ones but with life’s own teachings.  Last year,  like all other years that passed, may not always be the same good year for each and every one of us. With some depressing events globally, economic recession, crimes, scandals, prejudice, rifts and arm conflicts…not to mention all other personal issues that some of us are facing in our everyday life, who will be hopeful? Yet indeed we should remember that all these challenges in life we dwell with hope… Hope that when things are on it worst, there is nothing else it will turn to- except to become better.

Most of us, would probably resent the changes brought by time… Some may look forward to these changes for a new hope that time begets with new learning experiences.    As they say, whilst the time goes by so fast, people will go in and out of our lives that we should never miss the opportunity to tell them to how much they mean to us.  We should appreciate the thought of how these people gave meaning to our lives and contributed to us becoming  better persons all through the years in every own little way they did… We should be grateful for the wisdom we learnt in realising who we are now as we go along the way. We should thank God for the life that we share with people close to us; they are our family, loved ones,  friends, neighbours, colleagues and our community.

With happy thoughts in mind, let us greet the new coming year with cheers and hope.  Happy New Year to all!

*Special new year message

Do You Know Your “Culture”?

November 22nd, 2009

After a while, I managed to get some inspiration to blog on something. While being stressed out in sitting for one of the lectures I’m currently attending, and whilst there is a constructive need for me to somehow assimilate this information, I decided to scribble something interesting about Culture.

Culture is broad and it can be explained through different areas. Thus, it can be well understood by its relation to communication. How does culture affect communication? Like me, this will probably give you a slight idea in imploring ways to deal with people of different cultures aiming to achieve effective intercultural communication and understanding.

Not to mention the differences in language, do you ever wonder why, quite often in some countries in the world, our message is being misunderstood because of our cultural differences? It can be true that for us to be able to communicate effectively with peoples of different cultures, it is important to understand how one’s culture affects our way of communication.

One popular concept regarding intercultural communication is further by anthropologist, Edward T. Hall. He explains culture in relation to communication. According to Hall, people communicate depending  on their culture which he classified it into two forms; the High context and the Low Context culture. These two forms can also work along within a continuum.

High Context Culture exhibit  high context messages wherein information is internalise within the person or in physical context.  This means that the  information they process  may  already have an established message perceived through contexts- actions and/or signals, in  itself and the information is understood even with a very little verbal information explicitly used with it.  People in this culture emphasises interpersonal relationships and trust to one another in understanding the message. Their way of communication is also determined by the degree of the relationships and their trust to one another. People in a high context culture are more governed by intuition and feelings and less by reasons in making decisions. The gestures, tone of voice, facial expression, posture or even social /family history and status is more important than WORDS.  One example can be seen on some countries where  people  show  a  pronounced social respect and importance  to the views of old people within their family and  in their society just by considering their age.  Countries included in high context culture are that of the Middle East, Southeast Asia (Japan, Korea, China , etc.) , South America, Africa, and some degree, India.

Low Context Culture, on the other hand makes use of low context messages. In here, massive information are based on “explicit codes”. Direct statements and causal explanations are used to explain logic. In short, people from low context culture value logic, facts, and directness. Decisions are made based on facts and not intuitions and discussions often end with actions. Countries cited belonging to this culture would include North America, Australia and much of Western Europe.

A Japanese Manager explained his culture’s communication style to American: he says, “We are homogenous people and don’t have to speak as much as you do here. When we say one word, we understand ten, but here you have to say ten to understand one.”

It’s quite easy and I’m quite certain anyone reading this can do it too.

You’ll get incredible chapters on Selling, Buying, Scams, Craigslist Vs. Ebay, Expanding your Horizons, and the final Conclusion. 5 Facts About Weight Training And How To Burn More Body Fat

November 12th, 2009

You think cardio burns more fat? Think again!

Fact 1:
Weight training done correctly reduces dangerous belly fat faster than cardio.

Weight training done at a rapid pace with sufficient resistance releases a tremendous amount of fatty acids into the bloodstream and decreases insulin resistance. Both cardio and weights get this job done equally well… BUT weight training increases lean body mass which has a direct effect on reversing insulin disorders. (Cuff et. al, 2003) The area most affected is called truncal obesity—or “ugly belly fat” for the rest of us. Yes… weight training reduces belly fat (when done correctly) faster than cardio. And lets face it: Most of us want a better midsection. It’s not only sexier, it’s more healthy too..

Fact 2:
Weight training releases free fatty acids that can be used up by moderate cardio AFTER the session.

Want to burn a lot more body fat? Weight train the way I suggest on the next page… then hit some moderate cardio. Burn off those fatty acids that weight training releases. Those fatty acids mostly come from your belly fat, arm fat, thighs, butt… all the places you love to hate. Do it the way I suggest on the following page and you can burn that fat off faster than ever.

Fact 3:
Weight training produces a by-product that burns fat.

You know that burning feeling you experience when you lift weights? It is caused by lactic acid. Weight training produces about 300% more lactic acid than cardio training for obvious reasons—you are using more muscle. If you Google the subject you’ll find MOST trainers telling you to avoid lactic acid build-up by training with “light weights”. Nonsense! Lactic acid has now been linked to the most powerful fat-burning hormone there is: hGH. The American Society of Exercise Physiologists reported that increased lactic acid was linked to increased natural production of fat-burning hGH. If you train the way I suggest on the following page you’ll get just enough lactic acid release to do the trick.

Fact 4:
Weight training increases all key metabolic hormones.

From hGH to testosterone to leptin to thyroid—all are increased naturally through resistance training. Cardio exercise cannot even begin to compete with the hormonal changes weight training can give you. Part of this is due to the explosive nature of resistance training. The method of weight training I recommend is safe, great for fat loss and shaping the body, and works for both men and women. And it is explosive. That triggers the hormones we want to melt off that body fat and literally turn back your biological clock 10, 15 even 20 years.

Fact 5:
Weight training gives you the BODY you want, not just the condition you want.

Do you want better arms? A tight waistline? A better butt? How about a nicer chest, a shapely back, and great calves? Well say good-bye to a “cardio-only” approach to exercise. Cardio alone will NEVER give you the body you see in the magazines. That is the result of using weights carefully and specifically to literally sculpt your body like Michelangelo sculpted the statue of David.

Yes: You can do this! My basic routine starts with only TWO DAYS a week of exercise. Plus I will walk you through all 12 weeks, one week at a time, unlike almost any program out there.

Snoring…Ignore it, or Deal with it?

October 23rd, 2009
snoring

www.cpapandmore.wordpress.com

Do you know some people who get frustrated, had sleepless nights and impaired their relationships due to…a chain-saw-noise of snoring?  Well, let me share you this.

Yesterday I had a conversation with a friend and we passed along the topic of his snoring.  He will be consulting an otolaryngologist and seriously considering a surgery relative to his chronically “disturbing” snarls…This infuriating sound  frustrates his partner and the rest of the people in the house…(Yes!…that loud that he keeps the people in the next room awake by the sound of his snore).  I know that my friend is not alone and many men and women suffer from snoring and the hassles it can cause the people they live with.

What is snoring?

Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. In some cases the sound may be soft, but in other cases, it can be rather loud and quite unpleasant.

Statistics on snoring are often contradictory, but at least 30% of adults and perhaps as many as 50% of people in some demographics snore. One survey of 5713 Italian residents identified habitual snoring in 24% of men and 13.8% of women, rising to 60% of men and 40% of women aged 60 to 65 years; this suggests an increased susceptibility to snoring as age increases.

Some main causes of snoring…

SLEEP APNEA

This condition is defined as a complete or partial breathing blockage occurring more than five times an hour or more than 40 times during eight hours of sleep. Many sleep apnea patients stop breathing hundreds of times per night. The sufferers must arouse themselves from sleep to start breathing again, which prevents them from getting restful sleep. Studies have shown that patients with sleep apnea may be so fatigued during the day that they have slower reaction times than drunk drivers.

Sleep apnea is usually caused by excess tissue in the throat that sags and obstructs the flow of air. The condition primarily affects overweight men and women. Men with a neck size of 17 inches or larger have the greatest risk of developing the condition. Both apnea and snoring can be significantly improved when patients lose weight.

A form-fitting mouthpiece, prescribed by a doctor, can help prevent snoring. It pulls the tongue and soft palate forward to keep the airways open. If the mouthpiece needs to be used nightly, a custom-made device is comfortable and will not cause jaw or dental problems. It can be ordered from your dentist or oral surgeon.

Also helpful: Sleep on your side. This position reduces the effect of gravity on tissues in the throat and helps keep the airways open.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), in which patients wear a pressurized mask during sleep, successfully eliminates apnea and snoring in nearly all patients, but requires nightly use to be effective. With CPAP, air is forced through the airways and prevents them from collapsing.

Until recently, surgery was the only other option. Depending on the patient, this may involve uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (removing tissue from the soft palate as well as the uvula), which is usually performed in conjunction with removal of tonsils… removing enlarged adenoids… or tightening throat tissue. In some cases, the upper and/or lower jaw may need reshaping to improve airflow.

New approach: Radio frequency therapy (somnoplasty) uses radio waves to shrink the soft palate or other enlarged tissues. The outpatient procedure, performed by an otolaryngologist with local anesthesia, takes about 30 minutes. Patients receive as many as five treatments. It’s safer than surgery, since it does not require general anesthesia — which can be risky for obese patients with sleep apnea — and can be used as an alternative to CPAP for serious apnea and snoring.

ALCOHOL

Drinking depresses the central nervous system, increases relaxation of throat muscles and promotes congestion by dilating blood vessels in the nose. Just one to two drinks can make snoring worse.

It’s fine for most people to have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner if snoring is mild — but don’t have a nightcap within two hours of bed. People with loud or frequent snoring may want to give up alcohol for a few weeks to see if it helps.

ALLERGIES

Nasal congestion that accompanies allergies results in mouth-breathing during sleep, which can increase snoring.

If you have itchy, watery eyes as well as congestion, allergies may be the culprit. To determine whether allergies are causing you to snore, use a decongestant nasal spray, such as oxymetazoline (Afrin), for a few nights. If the snoring improves, nasal congestion is probably the problem.

Caution: Do not continue using the spray. Daily use can cause rebound congestion that’s worse than the original problem.

Avoiding allergens is the best defense. Example: Stay indoors during peak pollen times (mornings and evenings)… wash your bedding in hot water weekly to kill dust mites… control mold by wiping damp surfaces with a mild bleach solution… and use a dehumidifier in basements or other damp areas.

Non-sedating oral antihistamines, such as loratadine (Claritin), can reduce nasal congestion and snoring. Your doctor may prescribe a nasal steroid spray, such as fluticasone (Flonase), to shrink nasal swelling. Intranasal steroid sprays don’t cause rebound congestion and are safe for long-term use.

DEVIATED SEPTUM

The partition between the nostrils is sometimes crooked, usually from birth or due to a broken nose or other trauma. This reduces airflow, which often causes snoring.

Air normally flows through alternate sides of the nose at different times — it switches every four to six hours. If you consistently breathe through only one side of your nose, you may have a deviated septum. Surgery to repair the septum is helpful in severe cases, but most patients simply can use a nasal steroid, such as triamcinolone (Nasacort) or budesonide (Rhinocort), to reduce swelling and help air to flow more smoothly.

Also helpful: Use an over-the-counter nasal strip, such as Breathe Right, to help hold the nasal passages open.

NASAL POLYPS

These benign growths are usually caused by persistent infections and/or allergies. A polyp no larger than a pencil eraser can obstruct normal airflow and cause snoring.

Polyps usually disappear once nasal inflammation or infection is treated with medication. If they don’t go away — or keep coming back — you may need to have them surgically removed in a 30- to 60-minute outpatient procedure that requires general anaesthesia.

TURBINATE HYPERTROPHY

The turbinate are small, bony structures that protrude into the nasal airway. They’re covered with a mucous membrane that warms and moisturizes incoming air. Enlarged turbinate, due to allergies, obstruct airflow and often cause snoring.

Radio frequency treatments shrink turbinate and reduce snoring.  Most patients need only one treatment to eliminate scar tissue and enlarge the nasal openings.

Though snoring is often considered a minor affliction, snorers can sometimes suffer severe impairment of lifestyle. The between-subjects trial by Armstrong et al. discovered a statistically significant improvement in marital relations after snoring was surgically corrected.

Wizard Trader - A Proven, Profitable Trading System

October 18th, 2009

Forex wizeard traderHow To Consistently Make Money From Trading, Anyone Can Do This… Anyone. “Finally The Truth That Everyone Should Know About Trading Stocks — Indexes — Gold — Oil — Even FOREX And This Is So Easy My Gran Could Do It”..

Having traded for a year or two with mixed results as you may have done I realised I needed more. A proven system that works in all conditions.

And you know what?

Finally it happened. I stumbled on some pricelsss but rough gems… These gems were money generating trading facts and way better than anything I’d used before.

They just needed to be polished to create a whole trading system and the key to an almost infinite number of money making trades.

Having polished and refined these discoveries I began…

First Real Trade: 118 points yanked from the Dow Jones Index.

Second Real Trade: 30 more points yanked from the Dow Jones Index (a few moments later and sitting in the comfort of my home too.)

Total: 148 points and practically all of this was profit as I legally didn’t pay any commissions or tax as these were trades using a spread betting company.

The Wizard Trader trading system was complete. Then I realised how exciting this was for both of us and now many others.

While reading you’ll discover how these 148 points of cash were easily ripped out of the markets from just a couple of real trades. Soon you’ll be able to do the same or better again and again.

Your trade size can be huge or small by the way. But even if you had traded just $1 per point you would have made $148. Would you like regular returns like that?.. You’re closer than you might already realise.

Imagine this for a moment..

You also rip chunks of cash like this from the markets using your quick and easy system. Just think how you’ll spend this. Or will you reinvest it?

That’s one of the things I like about trading — you can reinvest your profits for even bigger and bigger profits just as easily as placing small trades.

Basically you can increase the size of your profits just by placing larger trades as you go on. In fact as far as I know — nothing is as easily scaleable as trading.

As you read every word of this revealing report it’s understandable that you’re feeling excited about these wealth generating methods and what’s being exposed at last.
